OSX Reinstall (downgrade to 10.7.3) Worked I have the new Macbook Pro 15 Inch (mid 2012 non Retina). I was able to downgrade back to 10.73 and Traktor worked perfectly. Just know that some of the new Macbook models ship with different versions of OSX for the reinstall feature (i.e.
Some may have 10.7.4 or 10.7.3 available as the back up). Regardless, it's worth the try until new S4 drivers come out. Just hold Command R while restarting to get to the OSX reinstall.
After it's complete, check to see which version was installed. Just my opinion, everyone needs to stop bashing on Native Instruments, it's clearly not their fault. This is 100% on Apple and Intel for driver incompatibility. EDIT: Just an FYI, this will cause all USB 3.0 devices run at USB 2.0 speeds. If you want to run your USB 3.0 devices at native speed, just reinstall the backup'd Kext file. It is a bit inconvenient but the best current solution.

I submitted a tech support ticket before I knew it was a widespread problem, and they explained that it's a compatibility problem with Apple's new USB 3.0 ports. They said they are aware of the problem and that they have sent relevant information to Apple and will solve issues as quickly as possible. So they are commenting on the issue if you actually ask them.
It's hard to say whose fault the problem is. Presumably either NI's drivers or Apple's ports don't conform to standards. Without being sure whose fault it is I think it's a bit rash to say NI are treating you badly and taking you for a fool. I'm hoping that OSX Mountain Lion will fix it. Does anybody know if any other companies' USB peripherals are having problems with the new ports?

This is not a Mac only issue. Twee weeks ago I upgraded my PC with to a new Core i5 system with a Gigabyte Z77 chipset motherboard. This Z77 chipset is the first chipset which suports USB 3.0 natively, so without any add-on chips (mostly from NEC) like was done before. So last week I bought myself an S4 and connected it up to my system. I quickly found out that it's not a good idea to connect the S4 to a USB 2.0 port which shares its bandwidth with another USB connection like the keyboard or something because then the Traktor software simply doesn't start for me and freezes.
It needs its own 'hub' port, most likely for power reasons (even with the PSU connected to the S4). No problem, I thought, I've still got 2 native USB 3.0 porst free, I'll simply connect it to one of those.
Upon starting the Traktor software, Windows 7 froze and presented me with a Blue Screen (BSOD). The first Blue Screen Windows 7 has shown me in two years of use I may add. So then I switched my USB connections around a bit until I could give the S4 it's own dedicated, unshared USB 2.0 port and now it works fine.

I guess some work is still needed when it comes to USB 3.0 drivers and especially backwards compatibility with USB 2.0.
Next, you need to download my Mountain Lion pack which includes all the kexts that are needed for systems similar to P5KPL-CM with Nvidea Geforce 8400 graphics. Installing a Bootloader and Fixing Audio. Extract the Mountain Lion pack that you downloaded and run MultiBeast 4.6.1. In the options, choose EasyBeast and VoodooHDA 0.2.7.3 audio settings. Finally Select the System Utilities option that will repair permissions after the new kexts and boot loader are installed. EasyBeast comes with Chimera boot loader. It is now time for the fun to begin.
Open the Finder and go to the Go menu on top. In that menu, select Computer. You will now see all of the partitions that are present on your computer. Double click on the partition to which Mountain Lion is installed. You will see a few folders, but the important one is the Extra folder. Open that folder and you will see the org.chameleon.Boot.plist file that we need to edit.
Double click on it, choose a place near the bottom and go to the Edit menu and Paste - notice the long string of numbers just appeared!. Encase those numbers in tags. Refer to the boot file in the Extra folder of the Mountain Lion Pack as a guide. Just before this string, you need to add a new key so type.
